THE OYSTER & THE ORIGIN

Produced by the Pinctada maxima ("silver-lip" or "gold-lip"), the world's largest pearl oyster, South Sea pearls are native to Australia, Indonesia, Papua New Ginea, Myanmar and the Philippines.

South Sea Pearl's are not dyed, and their natural colours are white, silver, cream and gold.

Rarity

South Sea pearls have a significantly lower yield per oyster than Akoya or freshwater pearls, making each pearl far rarer to produce.

Combined with their exceptional nacre quality, luminous lustre and limited annual harvest, this rarity contributes to their higher value and cements South Sea pearls as the most prestigious and sought-after cultured pearls in the world.
